Follow us into a world of literature, noise, and maybe some P.K.D. Shit.
Inside the office for Whatever, Mom Publications somewhere in Houston, books line the walls and electric wires connect one device to another. Each time Traci Lavois Thiebaud presses a key on her typewriter you can hear the sounds of letters coming through an amplifier. Matt Fries (Jet Propelled Insectivore) shines a light into copper tubes reaching out from a white dome, a synthesizer he has constructed in what we will call his “laboratory”.
They are the creators of Whatever, Mom Publications– or owners of a book binder- with which one can do great things. For example Traci has recently returned from a booktour for her collection of collage art and poems entitled Camp Big Stick: Somebody Poisoned the Humans. In the future they are looking forward to helping others with DIY publishing. To contribute to that effort, you will have to find them. But that won’t be hard. The pair frequent different events busking and bartering their poems and short stories around Houston. You can also hear the fequencies of Jet Propelled Insectivore at a venue near you.

December 2014 Traci and Matt along with four other writers hosted an event at The Jenner called “Shitfaced Poetry Night”. There may have been a little slurrrring of words due to the nature of the event, but overall it was a brilliant display of writers and listeners sharing an extremely intimate moment.
To hear about their background and to giggle as much as I did during their Read-Aloud with Chimera, watch the video below!
